Games becoming non-responsive in Windows XP home?

I am currently running a PC game (see list below) and my PC games (oblivion, Bioshock, the rule in war, ect.) Have been recently coming to be not sensitive to an alarming rate. I can usually play for 3 or 4 minutes, 10 if I'm lucky, before the program makes a windowed mode of the same size, has a black screen inside the window, and has the "This program has stopped responding" window the messege with an option to send or not to send the error report. Support only Microsoft would use that money cost. Also I do not want an answer you have to do with updating drivers for video and sound are both updated with the latest patch.
